Open Shelving
I came across this post today that made me consider open shelving for the first time. Wouldn’t it be fun to make the shelf out of pallets and the clothes rack out of pipes? It looks so organized! I fear I could never keep it that tidy though.

Pinterest Re-Purpose Challenge
So after looking through all of these great ideas, I ended up doing a somewhat simple re-purpose myself. Meet the coca-cola crate. My mom owned it forever and a day and then sold it to a second hand store. When I was home visiting I found it and was so excited I bought it immediately. Afterward, I showed my mom and she informed me that it was her old one, that she had sold. To avoid moments like this in the future, I have since forbid her from selling any of her other antiques & household items–at least until I get a chance to look at it and see if I want it.
So, I had previously used the crate on the floor but wanted to get more use out of it. So then I thought to make a shelf out of it!
Here’s what I did with the coca-cola crate:
It now houses some of my teas in addition to all the necessary ingredients for oatmeal. Even though it was a spur of the moment idea, I do really like it and intend to keep it. So, for my first Pinterest challenge please put a “check +” next to my name.
